Francesco Locatelli

Francesco joined UNEP-CCC and the Mitigation Analysis and Data Management Section in spring 2024, working within the Capacity Building Initiative for Transparency (CBIT). His work ranges from Project Management tasks, supporting the global 10 networks in delivering effective capacity-building activities to developing countries,  to in-person trainings to local experts regarding modelling tools and GHG projections, to BTR review processes.

Freya Milford

Freya joined the UNEP-Copenhagen Climate Centre in September 2024 in the Mitigation Analysis and Data Management Section. She works primarily within the Capacity Building Initiative Global Support Programme (CBIT-GSP), where she provides project management and technical expertise across the 10 global transparency networks. Here work involves extensive capacity building support, including the development and delivery of trainings and webinars across mitigation, adaptation and NDC areas, to countries and regions under the CBIT-GSP.

Khetsiwe Khumalo

Khetsiwe joined UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre as a Transparency Officer in July 2023 and is working in the Mitigation Analysis and Data Management Section where she is focused on climate transparency. She has a broad and interdisciplinary knowledge and practical experience on climate science and policy. Before joining the Centre, Khetsiwe was leading the national climate change programme in Eswatini where she gained practical experience in setting up institutional arrangements for climate transparency, policy formulation and climate finance.

Aiymgul Kerimray

Aiymgul has a prior research and consultancy experience on the topics related to energy systems modeling, emissions projections, air quality assessment and energy poverty in Kazakhstan. While she worked at Nazarbayev University, she contributed to the development of the TIMES energy system model for Kazakhstan. In her PhD thesis research, she explored decarbonisation pathways for the residential sector in Kazakhstan using TIMES energy system model. As a review expert for the UNFCCC, she participated in the Centralised Review of BRs and NCs, particularly on emissions projections.

Susanne Konrad

With an academic background in forest management and climate change, Susanne has a broad and interdisciplinary knowledge about climate resilient and low carbon development. Through various placements within leading international organizations such as GIZ and OECD, she has acquired strong analytical and organizational skills. Susanne works in the area of climate transparency, notably through the global GEF project “Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency-Global Support Programme (CBIT-GSP)”.

Denis Desgain

Denis works as Senior Adviser in research and capacity development on long term planning for climate change mitigation in developing countries. Denis manages and participates in several projects. He coordinates, among others, the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) which is a multi-donors initiative focusing on climate transparency in 20 countries, and the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions for Low Carbon Island Development Strategy in Mauritius. Denis’ work history spans three continents: Europe, Latin America & Caribbean, and Africa.

Fernando Farias

Fernando Farias is a Chemical Engineer with more than 20 years of work experience on climate change policy and atmospheric pollution. Before joining UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre in May 2018, he was the Head of the Climate Change Division at the Ministry of Environment, Chile. Fernando has several years experience as a country negotiator at UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP) meetings. In addition, he has succesfully combined his public administrator role with academia by lecturing on climate change in different universities in Chile. Fernando is a member of the UNFCCC Roster of Experts.

Talat Munshi

Talat Munshi is working as Senior Advisor at UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre. Talat’s work and research is in climate change and cities in developing countries, particularly analysing the role of land use, transport and geo-information science in mitigation and adaptation. Previously, he has worked as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Planning, CEPT University India, as Lecturer in Transport at Faculty of ITC, University of Twente Netherlands, at The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI), India and with Surat Municipal Corporation, India.

Subash Dhar

Subash is a Senior Economist at UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre and a Senior Fellow at the Global Centre for Environment and Energy, Ahmedabad University. He is a Lead Author for the Transport Chapter in the ongoing sixth assessment of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and was a contributing author for the fifth assessment of the IPCC. His research interests include sustainable urban transport, low carbon development in developing countries, technology transfer and climate change and he has published a number of peer-reviewed papers on these topics.
