New Sustainable Development Tool for the Article 6.4 Mechanism

This event will present the draft Sustainable Development tool for assessing sustainable development impacts of mitigation actions. The draft of the tool was developed based on a decision by the Article 6.4 Supervisory Body prior to COP28. The vent invites stakeholder views on: 
  • Robustness and reliability of the safeguards, 
  • Minimum requirements to promote positive SDG impacts, 
  • The usefulness of the tool for host and acquiring parties, and Needs for capacity building. 
The draft Sustainable Development for Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement was developed with a view to adapting the tool by early 2024.
