Nationally determined contributions (NDCs) are at the heart of the Paris Agreement and the achievement of its long-term goals. However, numerous developing countries confront significant challenges in fulfilling their NDC targets, largely due to limited access to advanced climate technologies and financial resources. Technology Needs Assessments (TNAs) stands as a crucial process under the UNFCCC, assisting developing countries in identifying and prioritizing their technology needs for climate mitigation and adaptation. TNAs are designed to facilitate technology transfer and deployment in these countries, thereby bolstering NDC achievements. Simultaneously, the Global Stocktake under the Paris Agreement will assess collective progress towards the Agreement's long-term goals. By aligning NDCs with TNAs to support the Global Stocktake process, and to utilize its insights, countries can better identify, prioritize, and implement climate technologies. This alignment not only strengthens the effectiveness of NDCs but also promotes international collaboration, capacity building, and resource mobilization to foster the deployment of climate technologies, ultimately advancing the global response to climate change.
