Bio

Clara is a Senior Advisor at the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, specializing in energy, green finance, and climate policy. With over a decade of experience, she provides technical advice, policy analysis, and strategic guidance to support the global energy transition and sustainable development efforts.

Prior to joining UNEP-CCC, Clara worked as a Policy Analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA), where she led initiatives in energy efficiency for cooling, buildings, appliances, and equipment. She was also responsible for the E4 Programme in Latin America and China. Her work included designing programs, delivering policy advice, conducting training sessions, and developing analytical frameworks.

She holds a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering and serves as a guest lecturer at Harvard University, where she teaches on sustainable building futures. Most recently, Clara was the lead author of the Global ESCO Market Report and co-author of the Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction, among others.

Bio

As an engineer specialising in energy efficiency at the Energy Efficiency Management Office (EEMO), my primary focus is on promoting the efficient use of energy across various sectors in Mauritius. We achieve this through the development of programs, guidelines, and support tools that encourage sustainable energy practices.

Muhammad is particularly passionate about making energy efficiency practical and accessible. This includes supporting policy development, reviewing energy audits, and engaging with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement.

Bio

Mr. Yuxiang Zhang is a leading operation manager in buildings at Yuexiu Commercial Real Estate Investment Management Co., Ltd. under Yuexiu Group as one of the biggest Real Estate Developer in South China, specializing in energy-efficient building systems, sustainable building operations, and low-carbon real estate development.

He has led a number of initiatives on energy efficiency and carbon reduction across Yuexiu Property's commercial real estate portfolio, including the development of technical frameworks for building decarbonization and operational energy management. He also spearheaded the implementation of a high-efficiency cooling plant at Guangzhou International Commerce Center (ICC), achieving operational performance significantly above typical industry levels.

His project experience spans supertall office towers, mixed-use developments, hotels, industrial parks, and shopping centers across China. He is particularly interested in advancing practical solutions for sustainable cooling, high-performance building operations, and ESG-driven building management.

Bio

Amiirah Muddhoo, is an energy and climate professional with several years of experience across the public sector, international organisations, and industry. She holds a dual master’s in energy engineering and project management through the Erasmus Mundus ME3+ programme and was honoured to receive the prestigious IAEA Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship during her studies.

Her work includes engineering and energy roles in government projects in Mauritius, where she supported sustainable services for public buildings. She has also taken on international assignments with Schneider Electric, contributing to Net Zero strategies for 14 buildings across 9 countries. Currently, at the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, she leads research initiatives aimed at strengthening energy efficiency policy in Mauritius.

Her expertise spans energy data analysis, building decarbonisation, renewable energy integration, project management and stakeholder engagement. She is committed to sustainable development for all, and she believes that meaningful change often starts with small, strategic actions.

Bio

Dr. Zhuolun Chen has been working as a technical expert on district energy system under the District Energy Initiative of UN Environment under the UN platform of Sustainable Energy For All (SE4ALL) since 2017. He works as a major technical expert to develop high-efficient district energy projects with suitable technical solution and business models in developing countries, including China, India, Malaysia, Egypt etc., and contributes to UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program. Dr Zhuolun holds a Ph.D. degree in Building Science and Architectural Engineering. He is also a certified LEED AP by US Green Building Council and CMVP by Efficiency Valuation Organization. His work focuses on optimizing energy systems at the district and building level to enhance the overall efficiency, including the application of innovative heating and cooling technologies and building energy efficiency, implementation of district energy systems with renewable energy, waste heat etc.

Bio

Trupti is an energy engineer with an MSc in Sustainable Energy from the Technical University of Denmark. She specialises in thermal energy systems with a focus on district heating and cooling solutions.

She is passionate about the green transition and wants to contribute to achieving the 2050 energy targets. She has previous experience in developing linear and non-linear mathematical optimisation tools to optimise the dispatch and management of district energy networks. She is currently assisting in projects related to the development of rapid assessment and pre-feasibility tools and e-Trainings for sustainable district energy projects in low-income countries.
