Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3) is an innovative low-carbon cement technology capable of reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 40 percent compared to Ordinary Portland Cement. Already deployed at production scale in multiple countries, including India, Colombia, and France, LC3 is emerging as a promising pathway for reducing the carbon intensity of cement manufacturing. In Pakistan, several cement producers have begun exploring investment in this technology; however, significant technical, financial, regulatory, and market barriers remain to enable widespread adoption.
This webinar will examine how Article 6 cooperation under the Paris Agreement can support the scaling of LC3 in Pakistan, including through carbon finance mechanisms that may help address investment gaps and implementation challenges.
As the first webinar of the 2026 SPAR6C series, this session will set the tone for SPAR6C’s focused engagement on cement-sector Article 6 readiness, with LC3 as a priority technology. The webinar will provide technical insights, outline practical next steps, and identify areas where coordinated action among government, industry, academia, and consultancies is required to advance implementation.
