WEBINAR: How can Non-State Actors strengthen Climate Action Transparency?

The climate crisis is threatening our health, food and water security, nature, safety, and socio-economic development. And as the UNEP Emissions Gap Report shows, even though the curve of global emissions is bending, it is not happening quickly enough. To solve the climate crisis, we need all actors on board, including non-state actors. Industry, financial institutions, cities, and regions all have the potential to significantly impact climate action. But how? This webinar builds on the findings and recommendations of two recent UN reports and seeks to facilitate the global discussion on how to strengthen climate action by non-state actors.

• Integrity Matters: Net Zero Commitments by Businesses, Financial Institutions, Cities and Regions: 17 experts appointed by the UN Secretary-General provide practical recommendations to increase integrity, transparency and accountability to non-state actors’ climate commitments.
• Strengthening transparency of non-state actors: How national experiences and new digital technologies can strengthen the transparency efforts of non-state actors: UNEP and the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre show how best to strengthen links between the Paris Agreement’s transparency provisions, and non-state actors, and how this may help generate more credible climate pledges.
