COP30 Side Event: COP30 Side-Event: Implementing NDCs 3.0: Technology Needs Assessments & Action Plans Event hosted by UNEP-Copenhagen Climate Centre and the UNFCCC Secretariat Wednesday, 19 November 2025, 13:30 – 14:30 BRT Venue: Special Event Room - Parana, Area C As the global community convenes at COP30, the spotlight is on actionable strategies to implement Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). Technology Needs Assessments (TNAs), including Technology Action Plans (TAPs), have emerged as powerful tools for translating climate ambition into implementation. TNAs and TAPs have evolved beyond planning exercises and are now recognized as strategic instruments that align national priorities, guide policy development, and mobilize climate finance. They now serve as foundational inputs for climate action, enabling countries to identify and prioritize technologies for mitigation and adaptation, strengthen institutional frameworks, and catalyze investment. Notably, TNA-related efforts have unlocked nearly USD 3 billion in financing from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), Global Environment Facility (GEF), and Adaptation Fund (AF). This side event aims to showcase the real-world impact of TNAs and TAPs in developing countries. It will highlight how TNAs are being integrated into third-generation NDCs, support technology transfer and stakeholder engagement, and align policies to advance climate goals. The event will also explore how they can be utilized to help unlock climate finance and accelerate low-carbon, climate-resilient development.   Agenda Moderator: Sara Traerup, UNEP-CCC ________________________________________________________________________________________________
