Country Support
UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre works directly with national governments, ministries, and regional partners to deliver tailored support on transparency frameworks, climate data systems, and technical reporting. Our aim is to help countries meet the requirements of the Paris Agreement while ensuring national climate policies are credible, trackable, and grounded in evidence.
Through long-term partnerships, we assist countries in building institutional and technical capacity for monitoring, evaluation, and learning. Our work ranges from developing MRV systems, supporting Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs), to helping countries align their reporting with NDC implementation.
WHERE WE WORK
How we work
Our approach is collaborative and adaptive. We co-develop tools and methodologies with countries, ensuring they are context-specific, scalable, and aligned with national development goals. From customized data portals to hands-on workshops, our solutions are designed to be practical and long-lasting.
We also facilitate peer learning, regional exchange, and south-south cooperation, giving countries the opportunity to share successes and lessons. Our global network of partners and technical experts helps us stay responsive to evolving transparency and climate reporting requirements.
Science
Transparency is a cornerstone of effective climate governance. We help countries track progress, report accurately, and design systems that reinforce trust both nationally and internationally.
Our work includes developing MRV systems, establishing data protocols, and improving the quality and consistency of climate-related metrics. This enhances countries’ ability to demonstrate results, access climate finance, and engage in global reporting processes.
Transparency
Transparency systems are only as strong as the people behind them. That’s why capacity building is central to our work. We provide technical training, create tailored guidance materials, and support institutional development for long-term impact.
Our tools and trainings are grounded in real policy needs, ensuring they remain relevant and effective. We also facilitate exchange between countries facing similar challenges to foster mutual learning.
