Bio

Jingjing Gao is a scientist at UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre. Her work focuses on climate impact assessment, adaptation transparency, resilience building and disaster management, as well as circular economy. Among other tasks at UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, she is responsible for management and technical support of adaptation and transparency projects in South Asia and Africa. These activities include climate impact assessment, and adaptation and resilience building in Sri Lanka and Uganda; technical support to The Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) in Zimbabwe and Kenya; designing and implementing disaster risk management tools for national level governance and local communities to adapt to climate change in various countries. She also provides technical support to various levels of adaptation guidance and policy briefs (UNFCCC, OECD, GCA).

Prior to joining UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, Jingjing worked as environmental consultant for both public and private sectors, with experience in different industries (automotive, textile and fashion) from Denmark and Asia. Her experience also includes teaching at Aalborg University (Denmark) and working as a science journalist and documentary producer at China Central Television (China). Jingjing holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Assessment and Planning from Aalborg University (Denmark) and a Master of Environmental Science and Water Resource Management from Beijing Normal University (China).

Bio

Lars Christiansen is an Advisor at UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre.

He has more than 10 years of experience in the field of adaptation, a large part of which has focused on the development, implementation and evaluation of projects under the Least Developed Countries Fund, Special Climate Change Fund and Adaptation Fund.

Lars has more recently been involved in many activities at UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre related to transparency issues in climate adaptation. In this context he was, among others, the Chief Editor of the ‘Perspectives series’ ‘Adaptation Metrics: Perspectives on measuring, aggregating and comparing adaptation results’ released in early 2018 and he is currently supporting the new UNEP DTU led Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) - Adaptation project with partners in Bangladesh, India, South Africa and the Dominican Republic.

In recent years, Lars has been the coordinator of UN Environment’s flagship report ‘Emissions Gap Report’ released annually ahead of the UNFCCC COP and from 2019 has taken over as lead coordinator of the UN Environment Adaptation Gap Report.

Bio

Currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, India, and co-chair of the Adaptation Working Group of the iGST, Vidhee holds a Doctorate from IIM Ahmedabad and a Master in Planning with Environmental Planning. Current areas of research range from adaptation policies, development, and climate change adaptation interactions in urban spaces, as well as GHG inventory, climate change mitigation.

Bio

Dr. Emilie Beauchamp is the lead and an expert on monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) at IISD. She has 15 years of experience in MEL and research methods in environmental change and sustainability policy.

Emilie’s work focuses on policy and practices related to the design of MEL and evidence systems across the adaptation policy and planning cycles. She is also the co-chair of the Race to Resilience’s Methodological Advisory Group and sits on the Trial Advice Panel of the UK Cabinet Office to provide technical evaluation support.

Bio

Dr Susannah Fisher is a Senior Research Fellow at University College London and leads a major programme assessing the role of measurement in adapting to climate change. She has over 15 years of experience working as a researcher, advisor and practitioner supporting governments, cities, climate funds, philanthropists and communities adapt to climate change, and she has written peer-reviewed articles, policy papers and books on the topic. Previously, she has led teams at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and Europe’s Climate Innovation agency.

Bio

Alexandre K. Magnan is a senior researcher at the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations. Alexandre’s research on climate adaptation focuses on understanding the drivers of societal vulnerability, the risk of maladaptation, and adaptation pathways, especially on coastal areas in small islands. He develops expert judgment methods to assess climate risks, adaptation options’ effectiveness, and adaptation efforts across scales. He served as an author for various recent IPCC reports (Special Report on Oceans and Cryosphere in 2019, Sixth Assessment Report in 2022) and for the lest editions of the UNEP Adaptation Gap Reports. He is a member of the World Adaptation Science Programme’s Scientific Committee.

Bio

Gigi Owen is a social scientist at the Arizona Institute of Resilience and the Climate Assessment for the Southwest (CLIMAS) at the University of Arizona. She earned her PhD in Geography by assessing adaptation actions around the world and evaluating the outcomes of collaborative research projects within the CLIMAS program. Her work informs local and regional climate action in the U.S. Southwest related to small-scale agriculture, water availability, and community-based adaptation initiatives. She evaluates the societal impacts of research, or how research contributes to solving global challenges.

Bio

Korinna von Teichman – Utesch is a consultant working for the UNFCCC secretariat. A former UNFCCC staff member, she has supported the work of various constituted bodies including the Least Developed Countries Expert Group, the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage and, for most of the time, the Adaptation Committee. There, she is currently leading the work on adequacy and effectiveness of adaptation and support. Korinna has held previous positions with the United Nations University and the Inter-American Development Bank.
