The NDC Action Project supports 10 partner countries to translate their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) into concrete sector strategies and actions ready for financing and implementation, and to increase the ambition of their NDCs. At present, many countries are not yet able to fully exploit the transformative potential of their NDCs, as they still face significant obstacles.

In order to achieve the Paris Agreement goal of holding the increase in global mean temperature at well below 2 °C, relative to pre-industrial levels, and pursue efforts to limit warming to 1.5 °C, every single effort resulting in GHG emission reduction or contribution to SDGs should be measured/monitored and reported. While a number of efforts will take place at national level, led mainly by the government, a number of emission reduction activities take place currently at micro or small scale by private or non-state initiatives.

The objective of this project is to ensure a low carbon economy development pathway for Mauritius by establishing the national capacity for formulating, prioritizing mitigation actions to implement Mauritius’ Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) for all mitigation sectors and further develop the local capacity to design and implement mitigation actions relevant for the energy sector.
