Smart Energy Solutions for Africa (SESA) is a collaborative project between the European Union and nine African countries (Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania ) that aims at providing energy access technologies and business models that are easily replicable and generate local opportunities for economic development and social cohesion in Africa. ISGAN Annex 7 - Smart Grid Transitions is a work programme of the International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN), a Technology Collaboration Programme of the International Energy Agency. The aim of ISGAN Annex 7 is to investigate institutional change associated with smart grid deployment.

Smart Cities Accelerator (SCA) is financed by the EU programme Interreg-ØKS, that supports cross-regional collaboration in Europe. Climate challenges such as global warming, air pollution and pressure on natural resources has resulted in a number of political objectives at local /regional, national, European and global level. One of the major climate objectives is to substitute fossil fuels with sustainable and renewable energy. This requires interdisciplinary development of methods and technologies.
